Stephen Cluxton's wife Jo revealed that the pair spent the evening in the cinema after Sunday's drawn All-Ireland final.
The champagne was left on ice for the goalkeeper and his Dublin teammates after nothing could separate the five-in-a-row chasers and Kerry in a 1-16 apiece stalemate.
There is traditionally a party for the winning county with RTE broadcasting from the victorious team's hotel.
But, with the final replay now set for Saturday, 14 September, Cluxton and his wife settled on a more relaxing evening at the pictures.
Jo said on Twitter: "Not exactly how I planned to spend my evening", alongside a picture of them at the cinema counter.
Her husband, is looking to win a seventh All-Ireland football title, and was at his imperious best in Sunday's final.
Cluxton saved a first-half penalty from Paul Geaney, tipped a goal-bound shot from Paul Murphy onto the bar and started many of Dublin's attack with his pinpoint kickouts.
