Stephen Clemence thanks Liverpool and Alisson Becker for 'lovely' moment after passing of dad Ray

Stephen Clemence - son of legendary Liverpool goalkeeper Ray - has revealed that his father was a huge fan of current No.1 Alisson Becker.

Clemence made 665 appearances for Liverpool in some of the best sides the club has ever known during the 70s, winning the European Cup three times and the First Division title on five occasions.

Clemence passed away on November 15 and Liverpool's players and staff paid a fitting tribute to him prior to Sunday's match against Leicester City.

As well as wearing black armbands and holding a minutes applause before kick-off, the Reds' goalkeeping department laid a wreath and a No.1 jersey behind the goal at the Kop End, where it stayed throughout the match as Liverpool kept a clean sheet in the 3-0 victory.

Stephen Clemence explained how much it would have meant to his father, especially as he thought so highly of Alisson and loved the club.

"My dad's got a lot of respect for Alisson," Stephen told TalkSport. "He really thought he was a great goalkeeper, so for him to do that and all the Liverpool goalkeeper department, I think they had a minutes pause, when they laid the shirt down and a wreath at the Kop End. It was lovely.

"Obviously in front of the Kop as well, I know it meant so much to my dad playing at Anfield, he obviously played there with some wonderful teams and he's got some wonderful memories.

"He always enjoyed going back even in the last few years working on a match day, doing the lounges, he's always loved going back to Anfield and he's always been welcome with open arms as if he was still a current player.

"It was great to see and obviously I thank everyone at Liverpool Football Club for doing that."
