Stephen Bradley urges Shamrock Rovers fans to create party atmosphere against Finn Harps

Stephen Bradley has urged Shamrock Rovers supporters to roar the Hoops to title glory.

Rovers will be crowned league champions for a second successive season if they beat Finn Harps at Tallaght Stadium on Friday night.

Even if they seal the deal, there won’t be a trophy presentation until the final game of the season.

But having celebrated last year’s title in an empty stadium because of Covid, Bradley says it would be special to clinch the league in front of a home crowd.

In 2010 and 2011, the Hoops won the league after away games at Bray Wanderers and UCD respectively.

Capacity tonight is restricted to 7,500 but ticket sales are heading towards 6,000 with many more expected to be snapped up today.

And Bradley said: “It's great for everyone involved in football, or not, to get back to some sort of normality.

“We could have 7,000 or 7,500 and by all accounts it's heading that way. If we get that crowd, it's up to us to make it special.

“This will be the first time the club can win the league at home since 1993/94.

“It will be more special in front of family and friends, and hopefully we can get over the line. It's just about getting another win.”

Bradley continued: “This is what we’ve worked all year for, to have a chance of winning the league and we have that tonight.

“We’ll do everything possible but we know it'll be a tough game. In the last game they should have beaten us in Tallaght, so it’ll be tough.”

And Bradley then revealed that Rovers’ plans for next season began five months ago.

He added: “It's about how we can improve, whether that's squad wise or tactically, how we can concede less goals, score more goals, how we can get more clean sheets.”

Ollie Horgan hopes that Finn Harps - currently in the relegation playoff spot - can be party poopers tonight.

But he suggested that Monday’s clash with Drogheda is a bigger game for his team.

Horgan said: “We’ve a massive game on Monday against Drigheda and we have to manage it right.

“We have to get something out of something - and not end up with nothing out of both.”
