Stephen Bradley insists Shamrock Rovers have plenty left in tank after Bergen draw

Stephen Bradley insists his Shamrock Rovers side has much more left in the tank after a rousing draw in Bergen last night.

The Hoops twice hit back from behind – the second time through a late Roberto Lopes header – against the Norwegians and Bradley now wants Tallaght Stadium rocking for next
Thursday’s return.

“We showed unbelievable character and togetherness to come away from here at two all,” he said. “We were excellent at times. We should have scored three, Aaron Greene had a great chance.

“That said, while some parts of the performance were brilliant, I feel our overall performance was just OK.

“It’s only half-time. I’m sure they’ll come to Tallaght looking to win the game obviously. We’ve got to make sure we are on our game because it’s going to be an interesting night.

"With the two away goals maybe we are now the favourites to go through but I feel we were a little bit below our levels.”

Lopes forced an own goal only to then concede a penalty. But the central defender was the hero of the night with a dramatic 94th minute equaliser.

And Bradley said: “For the penalty, it was unlike Pico to be fair as he’s usually a very good defender.

“But he took a big step and he got punished.

“Overall, though, I thought he was outstanding and he deserved his goal at the death.”
