Stephen A. Smith was so miserable about the Knicks’ free agency failures

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith has never been shy about his Knicks fandom. Sure, it sounds like a depressing existence, but Stephen A has stood by the Knicks for years.

Well, after Day 1 of NBA free agency, that allegiance was certainly tested.

As you’ve probably heard, the Knicks struck out on All-Star free agents Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving on Sunday. Both players opted to sign with the nearby Brooklyn Nets rather than deal with the toxicity that comes with a Jim Dolan-led Knicks franchise.

This was a team that tanked and cleared cap space in the hopes of teaming Irving and Durant up with Zion Williamson. Instead, the Knicks head into the 2019-20 season with none of the three on roster.

Smith did not take that fact well during his Monday appearances on ESPN.

Sadness goes better with music.

This all came after Smith completely melted down on Sunday over the Knicks’ failures. I think he’s finally in the acceptance stage of grieving.

It’s a tough time to be a Knicks fan, clearly.
