Stephen A. Smith saves the Knicks in hilarious NBA 2K montage

The New York Knicks may not have a plan. But lifelong Knicks fans Stephen A. Smith does.

The ESPN analyst — who was truly miserable after watching the Knicks fail in free agency — is going to take matters into his own hands. Smith posted a video which showed him taking the court for the Knicks in NBA 2K. Frankly, Smith didn’t just take the court — he took over the court.

Forgive me: I want to do a (not that) deep dive into this video because there are so many layers.

  • In the open of the video, there’s a reference to The Avengers. The line, “I’ll do it myself,” comes from Thanos in a scene that forebodes a cataclysmic series of events. (For those who haven’t seen the Marvel movies, I won’t spoil what those events include. But trust me, they’re bad. And Thanos ends up being very powerful.) Stephen A. Smith would compare himself to Thanos.
  • Onto the highlights: Smith’s crossover and windmill dunk are on point. Wow. And that behind-the-back 360 dunk! Goodness. Smith’s dunking is at 99.
  • Speaking of which, why is his jersey No. 99? Bad number, in my humble opinion.
  • Smith has shades of LeBron James (throwing out that where’s-my-beach-ball flex), Kevin Durant (with the hood on for his introduction) and, yes, Michael Jordan (with the dunk coming from the free throw line).
  • Wrap up thought: This montage is on par with “Rocky” and the track “Disrespectful” may just retire that ever-popular song, “Eye of the Tiger.”

Frankly, who wouldn’t pay to see Smith take the court for the Knicks?
