Stephen A. Smith is seriously convinced he can get a bucket on LeBron James (LOL)

You read the headline. That’s why you’re here. And, yes, it’s true. Stephen A. Smith seriously thinks he can score on LeBron James.

He said this in front of a nationally televised audience on ESPN’s First Take for everyone to see. He did his best to convince all of his co-hosts that he could do it. Obviously, it didn’t work. But, hey, man. As long as you believe in yourself Stephen A.

So the scenario goes like this: Stephen A. and LeBron are playing a game of 1-on-1 to 100 points. Stephen A. gets a headstart with 99 points. LeBron has to score a full 100 — no make-it-take-it.

All Stephen A. would have to do to win this game theoretically is score once! That’s it! Just one bucket.

He is totally sure he could do it. Everyone else? Not so much.

“Let me be very, very clear. I said it and I meant it. Check this out: If he doesn’t have to give the ball back, he’ll score 100 straight on me. I can’t stop him. I’m not saying that. But they’re trying to say if you’ve got to get to 100 and they’re going to give me 99, I can’t make one damn shot?”

YES. YES. THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE TRYING TO SAY, STEPHEN A.

You’re not getting a bucket on LeBron James, man. Some actual NBA players can’t get a bucket on LeBron James. Meanwhile, Stephen A. is out here shooting like this:

And that’s uncontested, folks.

Now, look. Let me be real: As someone who tends to have a problem with irrational confidence in the wrong situations, I can somewhat relate to Stephen A. here.

But you’ve got to know your limits, man. Let this one go, Stephen A.
