Stephen A.: Lakers expecting free agent meeting with Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving and his Boston Celtics are looking to the following weekend, where they will finally have their long-awaited chance of playing playoff games in their hopes of getting to the NBA Finals. However, one key person in the sports media indicates that Irving is as open-minded as he projects he is in the upcoming free agency period.

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith reports that people have indicated to him that Irving will give a meeting to the Los Angeles Lakers and that Purple & Gold expect a meeting with the wizardrying point guard from the Celtics.

As Smith states in his statement about Irving, the notion that Irving would even consider a meeting with the Lakers after asking out of Cleveland because of LeBron James is a major step forward. It indicates that Irving truly has grown out of his old views about LeBron James and would be open to a partnership in Los Angeles.

No matter whether Irving joins the Lakers or not, the latest statement from Smith indicates that the people closest to Irving are signaling an interest in a new situation. And judging by his comments and his willingness to take a meeting, Kyrie’s past situation don’t seem like something that would prevent him from trying it again with his old pal LeBron.
