Steph McGovern and Anton du Beke lose it over viewer's tip to turn thong into face mask

The coronavirus crisis really has brought out the best, worst and most mind-boggling in humanity... but none more so than a woman on today's first ever Steph Show.

Host Steph McGovern, who was presenting the brand new Channel 4 chat show from home, absolutely lost it when a viewer sent in a video of herself turning some underwear into makeshift face masks to protect against the COVID-19 virus.

Steph and special guest Anton du Beke, who were communicating over video link to preserve the strict social distancing guidelines, were in fits of laughter when they watched the woman give a quick how-to guide on turning thongs into masks.

"There's been a shortage of masks because of coronavirus and I think we've come up with an alternative idea," the genius mum explained in her video.

"It's just a simple everyday thong that we ladies wear all the time, and I'll just demonstrate...

"It just goes over the head like that and clips behind the ears," she revealed while sliding the underwear over her face.

"We're all trying to stay safe in this household."

The camera then panned round to an elderly woman sitting on the sofa with a pair of her own pants over her head.

"I don't know if my mum's quite got the idea," said the woman. "Mum, I'm going to have to dig you a thong out. I think your knickers are a bit too big and slack."

Anton snorted with laughter and adjusted his glasses as he watched the clip, while Steph couldn't hold back her giggles.

It came as Steph launched her first episode from her own kitchen while wearing slippers, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic forcing Channel 4 bosses to abandon their plans to stage the show inside a purpose-build studio in Leeds.

She allowed the cameras inside her colourful home, which she shares with her partner and their baby.
