Steph Curry shares thoughts on Jonthan Kuminga’s issue with Steve Kerr

Steph Curry has shared his thoughts on the January 5th report that Jonathan Kuminga has lost faith in Steve Kerr. The report became public following Kerr’s decision to sit the third-year forward for the final 18 minutes of Golden State’s loss to the Denver Nuggets on Thursday (Jan. 4.)

Curry’s comments came after he helped Golden State secure a 113-109 win over the Detroit Pistons. During that game, Kuminga saw the floor for 35 minutes, ending the contest with a statline of 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist on 50% shooting from the field. Curry noted how Kuminga “is not wrong” for being upset, but there are better ways to express your frustration.

“I have been there before. He’s not in being upset or p—– off for wanting to play,” Curry said. “He probably should have played, well, not probably. But the ultimate challenge for anybody in this league is not to let the narrative be told for you. And you not being able to address that with your own voice directly with the coach, whatever the case is. We all go through our challenges. We all go through our learning lessons. Like I said, he’s not wrong…It’s a talking point in every locker room (playing time) in some way, shape or form. Ways to express it. Ways to voice your opinion but protect the team.”

Kuminga has been thrust into a starting role during Draymond Green’s absence through suspension. However, Kuminga has still found himself spending some time on the bench during clutch moments.

With Green set to return from suspension, it will be interesting to see how Kerr handles Kuminga’s minutes and his frustrations over playing time in the coming weeks and months.
