For the first time in five seasons, the Golden State Warriors will not be gearing up for a run at the NBA Finals. Instead, Bob Myers and Steve Kerr will be busy with NBA Draft homework. With the league’s worst record, the Warriors will be in line for a top-five pick for the first time since 2002.
Before the Warriors can map out their exact plan for draft day, they’ll need to know when they’re on the clock. For the first time in years, the Warriors will take part in the NBA Draft Lottery. With a week left on the calendar before the NBA breaks out their ping pong balls, the Warriors announced Stephen Curry would virtually represent the Dub Nation at the lottery.

The two-time Most Valuable Player will be on-hand to help sway Golden State’s chances of landing the top overall selection.
Along with Curry, the Warriors announced their “official Draft Lottery lucky charm.” The All-Star point guard will be joined by Warriors owner Joe Lacob’s dog “Larry” at the virtual edition of the lottery.

The Warriors will have a 14% chance of landing the No. 1 pick, a 13.4% for No. 2, a 12.7% for No. 3, a 12.0% chance for No. 4 and a 47.9% shot of securing the No. 5 pick.
The NBA Draft Lottery is slated to begin on Thursday, Aug. 20.
