The Golden State Warriors’ dynasty run has officially been disrupted. After five consecutive trips to the NBA Finals, the Warriors will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2013.
Notable injuries to both Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson played a critical role in Golden State’s underwhelming season. Along with injuries to the Splash Brothers, Draymond Green, Kevon Looney and several other members of the Warriors missed time.
Both Green and Looney missed 20 or more games for Golden State’s frontcourt. Swingman Damion Lee was also sidelined for 10 contests.
As injuries ran rampant in their lineup, the Warriors recorded a league-worst 15-50 record. Golden State will be one of eight teams to not participate in the NBA’s restart in Orlando.
Despite Golden State’s struggles, Curry believes their down season could be “a blessing in disguise.” After finishing round one at the American Century Championship golf tournament in Lake Tahoe, Curry had a positive outlook on Golden State’s 2019-20 season.

We still have a great core. We have an understanding of who we are. Like you said, it was a crazy year — my hand injury, Klay being out all year, Draymond in and out of the lineup with injuries all year, a lot of new young guys. It’s definitely different, but this could be a blessing in disguise in terms of this next three four year run that we want to have — get rested get healthy. We’ll obviously be watching Orlando and in taking all that in. But come next season wherever that starts, we’ll be ready. We’ve had a long seven years, so it’s nice to get a little refresh.
In addition to their extended layoff, the Golden State Warriors are in line for a top-five pick in the NBA draft for the first time since 2002. Along with their prized pick, new members of the Warriors like Marquese Chriss, Eric Paschall and Andrew Wiggins will join Golden State’s refreshed championship core in 2020-21.
