Stepdad held for rape after two years on run

A 37-year-old man accused of raping his 14-year-old stepdaughter has been caught in Chachoengsao province after two years on the run.

Crime Suppression Division police arrested the Nakhon Nayok resident in front of a convenience store in Bang Nam Prieo district early Saturday. he was wanted on a warrant issued by the Min Buri court on Aug 20, 2015 for physically and sexually abusing a girl aged below 15 years.

The assaults were said to have taken place at a rented house in Min Buri district of Bangkok in August 2015 when the girl visited her mother. While his wife went out to work at night, the man used the opportunity to rape the girl on several occasions, said police. 

After the woman learned about the sexual abuse of her daughter, she filed a complaint with police.

During interrogation, the man admitted to having raped his stepdaugther. He said he took illicit drugs and drank alcohol before committing the acts, and fled after his wife learned what he had done.

Samai Yeeyama is being held in custody pending further legal proceedings.
