Stenhouse Road sewer works cause big delays for traffic in west of Edinburgh

Scottish Water works on Stenhouse Road have cause severe delays to traffic in the west of Edinburgh on Monday moning.

The sewage works are due to continue for the rest of the week, so expect rush hour commutes along the A71 to be tricky for the next few days.

The works have put three-way traffic lights just outside the entrance to Saughton Prison. They are taking place between Stenhouse Drive and Stevenson Drive.

Gorgie Road and Chesser Avenue may also be affected.

Scottish Water are installing a new sewer and will beat the site until February 23. Some drivers reported roads were at a standstill

Edinburgh's council-run travel account tweeted: "Stenhouse Road temporary lights causing widespread disruption - citybound queue from Bankhead rbt, westbound from Balgreen, Chesser Avenue queued whole length both ways plus knock-on delays Craiglockhart Avenue, Slateford Road and Lanark Road."
