Stenhouse Cross crash: Footage of aftermath as car smashes into Edinburgh building on New Year's Eve

A dramatic video shows the aftermath of a crash which took place on New Year's Eve in Edinburgh.

Police and fire engines raced to the scene of the smash at Stenhouse Cross, close to the junction of Stenhouse Drive and Stevenson Drive.

An eyewitness told how four people are believed to have been in the the car which collided with a building, with one person said to have "limped away from the car".

Pictures also show the extent of the damage to car, air bags having deployed inside.

Emergency services sealed off a section of the area and the eyewitness added that there was fears "someone could have been killed" had they been crossing the road at the time of the smash.

The front bonnet of the car has also been badly wrecked by the crash, but police say non one sustained any injuries.

UPDATE: 17:25: A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received reports that a car had collided into a property on Stevenson Drive, Edinburgh, around 9.40pm on Thursday, 31 December 2020.

"Officers attended, nobody was injured and enquiries are ongoing to trace those who were in the car."
