Stellar Saturday night at On the Waterfront as CamelPhat brings sunshine and dance to Liverpool's waterfront

After two consecutive nights of Jamie Webster, Saturday’s headliner at On the Waterfront Festival was Grammy-nominated Liverpool production duo, CamelPhat.

Aside from the performance, some comment should be made about the venue at Liverpool’s iconic waterfront which was bathed in glorious sunshine.

Thankfully, Saturday was a bit different to Friday night’s torrential downpour - although Jamie Webster’s performance had kept people’s spirits high.

As the sun set over the River Mersey, the atmosphere when CamelPhat arrived on stage was electric. Smartphones were instantly raised aloft to capture the moment and then a cheer went out as the first beat dropped and the performance began.

Dave Whelan and Mike Di Scala are the DJs and producers who make up CamelPhat and have been pioneers within the House music scene since 2006, amassing a huge and faithful following.

This was very much on display at On the Waterfront Festival during a sold-out headlining performance as the crowd danced and sang every lyric to every track.

CamelPhat might be best known for their huge 2017 single Cola but there was equal appreciation shown for Breathe and The Sign.

The event was a masterclass in up-tempo house music which had everyone smiling and showing love for each other.

As a whole, CamelPhat’s headline set was something to be admired and seemed perfect for a sunny summer evening.

The crowd were all in good spirits and there was a friendly and welcoming atmosphere - all complimented by the fact everyone was dancing. It was hard not too!

On the Waterfront Festival has been such a huge success. Hot on the heels of the Eurovision events, this festival has shown what a fantastic outdoor venue Liverpool’s waterfront truly is.

People have flocked to show their support and it’s hoped this event will become a regular fixture in Liverpool’s cultural calendar.
