Stella McCartney faces backlash for 'insensitive' Meghan Markle Remembrance Sunday post

Stella McCartney has come under fire with social media users, after she shared an 'insensitive' post about Meghan Markle on Remembrance Sunday.

The British designer, who is the daughter of Paul McCartney, took to Instagram to share a photograph of the Duchess of Sussex at this year's Remembrance Sunday service.

In the photograph, Meghan was seen wearing a matching navy woolen coat and hat ensemble.

The controversial post has since been deleted from Instagram (Instagram/Stella McCartney)

Under the image, the caption read: "So honoured to have  HRH Duchess of Sussex in our Autumn '19 coat at Remembrance Day service. x Stella #RemembranceDay."

The post racked up tens of thousands of likes, with some people complimenting the garment.

However, many found the post 'disrespectful', and took to the comments section to express their opinion.

"Using remembrance day to advertise your clothes is a little disrespectful!! People died and you take pictures of people showing respect for advertising purposes. Just wrong," said one critic.

Somebody else added: "Remembrance day is to honour those that fought for us not to use for advertising purposes. Pretty shocked."

"Nice - but not really a time to be advertising your clothes, Stella," commented a third critic.

The post has since been removed from Instagram, and Stella is yet to issue a comment on the backlash it caused.
