Stella McCartney: Daily Mail criticised by own readers for article questioning what 'happened' to fashion designer's face

The Daily Mail has attracted criticism from its own readers for a "disgusting" article asking what has happened to Stella McCartney’s face.

An article published on Friday suggested the fashion designer had “acquired a strikingly different face” and repeated derogatory comments from readers on an Instagram photo shared by Vogue editor Suzy Menkes.

Headlined: "What HAS happened to Stella's face?”, the piece highlighted negative comments from Instagram users on a picture of the 44-year-old's face.

The obvious answer to its question was quickly provided by readers - nothing.

“There is nothing “wrong” with Stella McCartney’s face,” wrote one in a comment under the piece. Others rebuked the paper for sharing such an “obnoxious” post, writing:

“That's just totally mean and quite disgusting, DM. Shame on you.”

“Honestly, I think it might be the angle of the photo, makeup and lighting. But, even if it isn't...it's none of our business.”

“Homegirl looks fine to me.”

“It is just a different type of lighting. Nothing wrong with her face.”

“Yes. Put a light right above anyone's head it will give them big shadows on their faces. Stupid article."

“Just darker angles, for heaven's sake! Move on.”
