Stein: Brooklyn Nets exploring potential to add DeAndre Jordan

The Los Angeles Lakers are in the market for a starting center for next season and one of the names that’s been mentioned in connection to them is former Clippers center DeAndre Jordan.

After spending a year between the Dallas Mavericks and New York Knicks, Jordan is a free agent and a target for several teams. One of the teams that hadn’t been mentioned in relation to Jordan until recently was the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets have long been connected to Kyrie Irving, but have more recently been connected to Kevin Durant. Durant is a close friend of Jordan and Marc Stein of the New York Times reports the Nets are looking to bring him in.

Jordan could potentially be a target for the Lakers with their cap space, but the Nets are expected to enter free agency with a league-high $67 million in cap space to pursue star players and role players alike. While Jordan’s Defensive Player of the Year days are likely behind him, he would provide some solid depth for the Nets center since they will likely lose Ed Davis this summer.

Davis, on the other hand, could be a nice alternative for the Lakers if they are looking to get a defensive-minded center to replace JaVale McGee.
