Vikings receiver Stefon Diggs is under contract with Minnesota through the 2023 season, but there have been growing rumblings about Diggs’ future with the Vikings.
A few weeks ago, Diggs scrubbed his social media of all Vikings content — a popular sign of organizational unhappiness from athletes. Then on Monday, Diggs — who is coming off a strong year with a career-high 1,130 receiving yards — tweeted, “I know my worth.”
It turns out that Diggs was just getting started with fueling the trade rumors because on Wednesday, the Vikings receiver posted a workout video while wearing an Arizona Cardinals shirt. It wasn’t exactly subtle.
It probably wasn’t a coincidence either that the Cardinals are among the teams that could use some serious help at receiver. It’s also important to note that the Vikings are not due to pay Diggs the final $5 million of his $15 million signing bonus until Sunday. Despite the drama, the Vikings control the leverage here.
Still, fans definitely took notice to Diggs’ workout attire.
We’ll have to see if anything happens in the next couple of weeks, but the Vikings don’t have much reason to part with Diggs.
