When did it become an accepted bit for faux sports media members to proudly root for a team?
I missed the memo on this.
You can sort of understand someone such as Michael Irvin, a Hall of Fame player for the Dallas Cowboys remaining loyal to his team. But a random former newspaper writer who once covered the team? Oy vey.
Another shining example of this ridiculous trend came Sunday night in the form of Skip Bayless, one half of "Undisputed," the FS1 talking head, contrived argument fest.
Bayless posted a video on Twitter to help illustrate his disgust for the Dallas Cowboys' loss to the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field.
In the clip, Bayless throws an Ezekiel Elliott jersey and Cowboys cap in the trash. His message at the top of the post: "I've had enough."
Of course, it's any fan's right to show their disgust. What makes it ridiculous is the notion that Bayless has a team in the first place.
This is his shtick so maybe I'm the fool for being annoyed by it. But it's not good journalism if he is, in fact, still a member of the media.
So maybe the annoyance should be directed at the people eating it up? The video is closing in on 50,000 likes and 9,000 retweets.
What a time to be alive!
