Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster on the Antonio Brown trade: ‘God opened up another door for me’

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster was chosen to be one of the ambassadors of the NFL Academy in London this week. It’s an opportunity for athletes overseas to learn from NFL professionals and show of their skills in hopes of one day making it to the NFL.

Nate Burleson of the NFL Network spoke to Smith-Schuster about the upcoming season and the opportunity he has now that the team traded Antonio Brown to the Oakland Raiders.

“God opened up the door for me to take another opportunity to be the number one guy,” Smith-Schuster said. “I’m super happy and I’m super proud.”

Smith-Schuster had his breakout season in 2018. Despite having Brown on the team, Smith-Schuster led the team in receptions (111) and receiving yards (1,426). As much pressure as there is on Smith-Schuster to produce, it will be up to the other receivers on the team to step up and take advantage of those increased opportunities.
