Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster on costly fumble: ‘Literally the worst feeling ever’

Despite all the positives about Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, he has to take the heat for his costly fumble at the end of Sunday’s game. Smith-Schuster hauled in a pass from Devlin Hodges in overtime and promptly had it punched out by Baltimore cornerback Marlon Humphrey. This lead to the field goal by Justin Tucker that game the Ravens the win.

When Smith-Schuster spoke to the media after the game it was clear he was distraught and his emotions were genuine. But this is no way absolves Smith-Schuster of blame. For the second year in a row, a fumble by Smith-Schuster has effectively ended the Steelers season.

The whole situation was compounded by the injury to quarterback Mason Rudolph. When he went down the cameras cut to Smith-Schuster who was clearly emotional on the field. You could see Smith-Schuster pressing to try to make a play when Devlin Hodges took over.
