The Pittsburgh Steelers have had enough of wide receiver Donte Moncrief’s struggles. According to NFL reporter Mike Garafolo, the Steelers plan to deactivate Moncrief this week versus the San Francisco 49ers.
This means aside from rookie Diontae Johnson getting the start, backup James Washington should see a big bump in snaps. The last thing the Steelers need with Mason Rudolph getting his first NFL start is a guy in the route who cannot be counted on to catch the football.
Moncrief out of uniform also means we will see where the Steelers stand with the No. 4 wide receiver spot. Ryan Switzer is the easy choice but he has struggled this season so we might get a bigger dose of Johnny Holton.
