Steelers WR Antonio Brown takes no blame for Problems in Pittsburgh

When Pittsburgh Steelers’ wide receiver Antonio Brown sat down with ESPN’s Jeff Darlington for a lengthy interview, he spent a great deal of time blaming people for the damaged relationship between him and the Steelers. He pretty much blamed everyone involved. Except for himself.

“I don’t take any blame,” Brown said. “I just think I took responsibility for my situation. You know, I didn’t point the finger. I didn’t make no one look bad. I didn’t throw no stones at anyone.”

It’s almost impossible to decipher what Brown was saying for much of this interview but we’re going to try with this quote. Brown feels that despite the problems on the team and the growing divide between himself and Ben Roethlisberger because he didn’t talk about it, this absolves him of any responsibility for his part in it.

The problem with this is a relationship where neither side is allowed to criticize the other isn’t sustainable. And we have the perfect example here. Brown felt betrayed by Roethlisberger and felt like he wasn’t his boy because of it. But if you cannot be critical of one in another in an attempt to improve, you were probably never that close, to begin with. This sort of mentality comes from someone who lives in a world where a person surrounds themselves with people who only tell them what they want to hear.
