Steelers' Watt says groin injury 'wasn't serious'

Steelers rookie outside linebacker T.J. Watt, who left the Vikings game with a groin injury and did not return, was a limited participant in practice Wednesday. He said a scan of his injury proved the injury is minor and cannot be injured further.

Watt said he originally sustained the injury in practice last week and aggravated it covering a punt against the Vikings.

"I ran around a little bit, tested it around, and it felt pretty good, so I'm happy with that," he said.

"I knew it wasn't serious. After getting the scans back it proved I was right. Knowing it wasn't anything serious and can't hurt it anymore is good news for me. I'll just take it day by day and see how I feel Sunday."

Marcus Gilbert (hamstring), Darrius Heyward-Bey (illness), tight end Jesse James (ankle) and center Maurkice Pouncey (illness) did not practice Wednesday. Defensive end Stephon Tuitt (biceps) and outside linebacker Bud Dupree (shoulder) also were limited.

Safety J.J. Wilcox, who missed the Vikings game with a concussion, was a full participant in practice.
