Steelers vs Rams Thursday practice report

With just a few days until the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Los Angeles Rams, things aren’t looking great for the Steelers on the injury front. The team put out its practice report for Thursday and the news is awful for the run game. Three of the team’s four best running backs were DNP for Thursday.

Here is the full list of players who didn’t practice on Thursday:

DE Tyson Alualu (knee) DNP

FB Roosevelt Nix (knee) DNP

G Ramon Foster (concussion) DNP

RB James Conner (shoulder) DNP

RB Benny Snell Jr. (knee) DNP

RB Trey Edmunds (ribs) DNP

If things stay put, It’ll be Jaylen Samuels as the sole running back on the roster with any legitimate NFL experience and no fullback at all. The problem with the run game is made more complex because starting left guard remains in the concussion protocol.

Pittsburgh is experimenting with offensive tackle Matt Feiler at guard instead of B.J. Finney and moving Chuks Oforafor to Feiler’s spot at right tackle. This is in part due to finding a way to slow down Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald but could also be a plan to improve run blocking.
