Steelers vs Patriots: New England 6-point favorites over Pittsburgh

The theme for the Pittsburgh Steelers this season will be underdogs. After missing the playoffs last season most pundits aren’t talking about them in terms of AFC contenders. They start the season off right in their retribution tour with a road game against the New England Patriots. And just like their entire season, they are coming in as underdogs.

According to Vegas Insider, the consensus line for this Sunday’s game has the Patriots as six-point favorites. Considering most home teams get three points by default, this feels pretty generous.

The Steelers beat the Patriots last season in Pittsburgh. Many looked at an injured and limited Rob Gronkowski as a huge reason why. Well, Gronk is gone so the chief nemesis of the Steelers secondary can’t hurt them anymore.

There’s no doubt the Steelers can win this game. Getting New England in Week One really is the best-case scenario if you think about all teams are still trying to shake off the rust of the offseason.
