On Sunday the Pittsburgh Steelers found a way to get past a pesky Indianapolis Colts team and improve their record to 4-4. The Steelers are 3-1 in their last four games and have won their last two. This win was another nailbiter but it keeps their playoff hopes alive. Here are big takeaways from the win.
Mason Rudolph needs to get better
Everyone is going to say that a win is a win but you don’t have to dig very deep to see what is wrong with Rudolph right now. He’s stuck in a loop right now. He looks at his first read and if it isn’t there he dumps it off to the back. This is why running back Jaylen Samuels had 13 receptions which were half of his total for the game. If the Steelers really want to make a playoff push, Rudolph can go instantly from first read to safety valve on half of his completions.
I’m not sure the defense can keep this up

The resurgence of the Steelers’ defense has been the biggest positive to come from the first half of the season. But you still see lapses and with every week that more and more is put on their plate, those lapses could get worse and worse. At some point the depth of this unit will be tested and I’m just not sure if they could absorb even one more injury.
That feeling you are feeling is hope

When the Steelers were 1-3 most of the fanbase had given up. The odds of a 1-3 team making the playoffs are pretty astronomical. But after a dreadful start of the season, Pittsburgh has gone 3-1 and is on the cusp of the playoff picture. The Steelers are only one game out of the playoffs and hold the tiebreaker over the team ahead of them. This is real hope.
