The Pittsburgh Steelers are going to be short-handed at cornerback this weekend when they take on the Los Angeles Chargers. The team is reporting starting cornerback Steven Nelson has been downgraded to out for this week’s game and will not travel with the team.
Nelson has been the team’s most consistent coverage player after coming over from the Kansas City Chiefs.
With Nelson out, look for Artie Burns to get the start opposite Joe Haden. Burns is the team’s former first-round pick back in 2016 but struggled last season. The Steelers could also opt to move Cam Sutton outside to help with Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen. Sutton has been great as the team’s slot coverage cornerback this season.
