If you thought the Pittsburgh Steelers were underusing the tight end position you haven’t seen anything yet. The inactives for the Steelers are out as they prepare to take on the Cincinnati Bengals and the list is headlined by starting tight end Vance McDonald and starting inside linebacker Vince Williams.
With McDonald out, it will be a heavy dose of rookie Zach Gentry and newly-acquired Nick Vannett. Don’t look for Pittsburgh to use the tight end much at all. With McDonald out, the Steelers have chosen to activate offensive lineman Chuks Okorafor who could be used as a sixth offensive lineman in the run game.
In place of Williams, rookie Devin Bush will get his second NFL start. The Steelers will also be without the services of backup outside linebacker Anthony Chickillo. Keep an eye on how many reps Ola Adeniyi gets.
