It feels great to be thinking about what to take away from a Pittsburgh Steelers win. Pittsburgh finally got that elusive first victory of the season with a dominating victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. Here are our four big takeaways from the game.
Devin Bush coming into his own
With each week, the rookie Bush looks more and more comfortable on the field. His speed was evident in college and now you are seeing the NFL game slowing down for him as well. Bush finished with nine tackles including three tackles for loss and got his first career sack.
More Jaylen Samuels is a good thing

Are we finally ready to admit the rushing offense looks better when Samuels is in the backfield? On Monday night Samuels did a little bit of everything for the Steelers and finished with 31 passing yards, 26 rushing yards, 57 receiving yards and a touchdown. We will dig more into what Samuels brings to the offense later in the week but his fluidity is hard to deny.
Randy Fichtner gets creative

When a traditional offense won’t work, then get untraditional. That was what Fichtner did on Monday night as he utilized rarely used sets including the wildcat and jet sweeps. Even in the passing game, Fichtner made life easier on Rudolph with quick, short throws and let his skill players do the work.
This Steelers team still isn’t good

There is going to be a lot of hyperbole after this week’s win. But let’s not pretend like this team is not the team from the first three weeks of the season. Against one of the worst teams in the league, you expect Pittsburgh to look good. Especially considering their history against them. Pittsburgh takes on the Baltimore Ravens this week and we will know if what we saw on Monday was an outlier or is a trend.
