Steelers trade QB Joshua Dobbs to Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars saw starting quarterback Nick Foles go down with a broken collarbone on Sunday, and they were in the market for a replacement. It just so happened the Pittsburgh Steelers had an extra quarterback in Joshua Dobbs. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the two sides have come together on a trade sending Dobbs to the Jaguars in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick in 2020.

Dobbs was the primary backup for Ben Roethlisberger in 2018. But the emergence of Mason Rudolph this offseason made Dobbs expendable. The Steelers are now likely to bring back Devlin Hodges to be the No. 3 quarterback on the depth chart for the remainder of the season.
