Steelers to alternate players in kicking game vs Bucs

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the media on Wednesday ahead of the teams matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Friday. One area of concern for the Steelers this offseason has been the kicking game. Kicker Chris Boswell and punter Jordan Berry both return but with questions about whether they can be assets or liabilities.

It seems Tomlin is more than willing to leave both the punter and kicker jobs open to some competition. Tomlin told the media Boswell would alternate kicking duties with Matthew Wright and Berry would share punting chores with Ian Berryman.

Training camp has been kind to Boswell so far. He’s hit almost all of his kicks in practice but the rubber will hit the road when it is a live game situation. Boswell went 13-for-20 on his field-goal tries last season and ended up on IR before the last game of the season. The team is banking on a bounceback for Boswell this season.
