Steelers tumble in USA TODAY NFL power rankings entering Week 2

There weren’t many teams who put on a Week 1 performance as bad as the one the Pittsburgh Steelers did on Sunday night. The New England Patriots routed the Steelers 33-3, and as a Steelers fan, it was very hard to watch. We all knew this game would be tough, but I think most expected the Steelers to put up some sort of fight.

The Steelers’ miserable performance cost them not only in the NFL standings but also in the USA TODAY NFL power rankings. The Steelers went into the opening week ranked No. 9 but fell six spots to No. 15.

To be frank, this was mercy by author Nate Davis. There weren’t five teams who looked worse this weekend. If Davis still thinks the Steelers are better than more than half the teams in the NFL, he has more confidence than most of the fan base.

Meanwhile, around the AFC North, the Baltimore Ravens fly to No. 5, the Cleveland Browns check in at No. 22 and the Cincinnati Bengals land at No. 25.
