Steelers sign utility player to attempt to simulate Ravens QB Lamar Jackson

When you face a unique challenge it takes a unique approach. This is where the Pittsburgh Steelers sit as they prepare to take on the Baltimore Ravens and quarterback Lamar Jackson. Jackson has proven through four games to be much more than a running back who happens to play quarterback.

Pittsburgh is taking Jackson’s threat to run and throw seriously. So much so they released tight end Alize Mack from the practice squad and instead added Taryn Christion in his place. Christion is a unique player as a former dual-threat quarterback from FCS South Dakota State, he has the athleticism to simulate Jackson’s style in practice.

The Steelers defense had its best game of the season last week but this is not the Bengals. Hopefully the addition of Christion as a scout-team quarterback will aid the defense is understanding the type of speed Jackson plays with and how to play with discipline and gap integrity in their pass rush.
