Steelers sign rookie CB Justin Layne to a 4-year contract

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed the last of their 2019 NFL draft class. The team reported on Thursday they had signed their third-round pick, cornerback Justin Layne to a four-year contract.

Watching Layne play the two things that stood out were his length and his ball skills. This should come as no surprise seeing as how Layne is a former wide receiver. He does an excellent job tracking the football in the air and really utilizes his long limbs to get to the football.

Layne should be firmly in line to be the primary backup cornerback on the outside. With Joe Haden a free agent next season and the team invested heavily in Steven Nelson, Layne might only be one season away from a starting spot.
