Steelers sign RB Knile Davis, CB Coty Sensabaugh

The Steelers pierced their relative silence in free agency by signing two backups _ cornerback Coty Sensabaugh and halfback Knile Davis.

Both players visited the Steelers on Monday and signed in the afternoon. The Steelers have now signed three free agents, adding wide receiver Justin Hunter last week.

Sensabaugh played for the Giants and Rams last season, starting two games of the 13 he played. He was a fourth-round draft pick of the Tennessee Titans from Clemson in 2012. He started 27 games and played 72 in four seasons with the Titans. He has two career interceptions.

Davis, 25, rushed for 805 yards over the past four seasons with two teams; he had a 3.2-yard average per carry. He also has returned kickoffs. He was a third _ round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs from Arkansas in 2013. He also has 34 receptions and averaged 26.8 yards on 73 kickoff returns. He played for the Chiefs and Green Bay Packers last season.

Former Penn State receiver Chris Godwin could be a good option for Penn State on Day 2 of the NFL draft.

The Steelers signed one other free agent from outside, wide receiver Justin Hunter, who played for the Buffalo Bills last season. They offered a contract to New England inside linebacker Dont'a Hightower, but he returned to sign with the Patriots.

The Steelers also re-signed a few of their own, including backup quarterback Landry Jones, linebacker James Harrison and tight end David Johnson. They signed Antonio Brown to a five-year contract and issued Le'Veon Bell the one-year franchise tag.
