Steelers sign LB Devin Bush to 4-year contract

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Sunday they have signed their first-round pick, linebacker Devin Bush to a four-year contract. According to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport, the four-year deal is worth right around $18. 87 million fully guaranteed.

Bush being signed leaves only third-round pick cornerback Justin Layne as a Steelers rookie without a contract.  As with all first-round picks, Bush’s four-year contract will be eligible for a fifth-year option.

The Steelers made a big trade up to get Bush with the No. 10 overall pick in the first round. Pittsburgh, a team who preaches they do not simply draft for need went against that philosophy to a degree with the Bush pick. They have been searching for a way to replicate the athleticism lost with the Ryan Shazier injury and viewed Bush as the player to fill that need.
