Steelers sign K Josh Lambo to practice squad

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Tuesday they signed free-agent kicker Josh Lambo to the practice squad. Pittsburgh signed Lambo as insurance for the week with starting kicker Chris Boswell in the concussion protocol.

Boswell suffered a concussion on Sunday when he took a huge hit on a botched fake field goal attempt that we have talked about at length.

Lambo was one of the kickers we targeted as potential signings for the Steelers immediately after Boswell’s injury.

At the start of the 2021 season, Lambo was the starting kicker for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was released on October 19. For his career, Lambo is an 87.1 percent career field goal kicker with a career-long of 59 yards. Lambo missed much of the 2020 season with a hip injury but appeared to be back to full health now.

If Boswell cannot go on Monday night against the Chicago Bears, look for Lambo to handle all the placekicking duties.
