Steelers sign former XFL edge rusher Dewayne Hendrix

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been busy scouting free agents from the XFL. After the league was forced to cancel their season because of the COVID-19 pandemic, NFL teams were quick to go in and scoop up the stars. The most recent is Pittsburgh picking up edge rusher Dewayne Hendrix, formerly of the St. Louis BattleHawks.

Steelers’ fans certainly recognize the name as Hendrix was a star at the University of Pittsburgh. You can cut up film of Hendrix that really showcases his motor and effort but in terms of numbers, his flash never really produced the substance.

Nevertheless, with questions about depth at outside linebacker, Hendrix should have an excellent opportunity to compete for a spot on the 53-man roster and compete for reps.
