Steelers season ends after first half collapse against Cleveland

Starting slow is nothing new for the Pittsburgh Steelers. We’ve seen it all season. But the Steelers took things too far on Sunday night after spotting the Cleveland Browns 28 points in the first quarter and despite outscoring them 37-20 after that, fell 48-37 and see their season come to an ugly end.

Offensively, turnovers were the story. Despite throwing for 501 yards, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s four interceptions are what made the real difference in the game. Two of those interceptions fell squarely on the shoulders of Big Ben and it was the Browns ability to turn those turnovers into points that put the Steelers behind early.

On the other side of the football, the Steelers defense lacked their usual punch and failed to make any splash plays. The Steelers defense was held without a sack or turnover and the Browns seemed content just running it right at a group filling with backups and Pittsburgh had no answer for it.

The loss ends the Steelers season and the Steelers now have not won a playoff game since the 2016 season.
