Steelers release QB Taryn Christion, still need 3rd quarterback

The quarterback position has been a comedy of errors for the Pittsburgh Steelers this season. Injuries to Ben Roethlisberger and Mason Rudolph have left the cupboard pretty bare in terms of talent. The Steelers had added another quarterback last week in Taryn Christion but he was simply a one-week rental to simulate Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson in practice. NFL report Howard Balzer is reporting the team has released Christion.

But this move leaves the Steelers with only two quarterbacks. Devlin Hodges should start this week against the Los Angeles Chargers and we expect to see Paxton Lynch promoted tot he 53-man roster on Tuesday.

But the Steelers need to have a third quarterback. And all things considered, they should probably think about having three quarterbacks on the gameday roster this week. The way quarterback misfortune has struck this team they legitimately need to hedge their bets. The team’s emergency quarterback is running back Jaylen Samuels.
