Steelers RB Najee Harris didn’t know NFL games ended in a tie

Welcome to the NFL, rookie. After overtime ended with a 16-16 tie between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Detroit Lions, running back Najee Harris was ready to play more football.

Harris, a rookie, comes from college football where games go on for what feels like forever with overtimes. So he was shocked on Sunday when the clock hit zero and players told him the game was over.

“I didn’t even know you could tie in the NFL,” Harris said. “In my mind, I was sitting on the bench saying, ‘I’ve got another quarter to go.’ But someone came to me and said, ‘that’s it.’ I’ve never had a tie in my life before.”

Harris had a strong game and another heavy workload. Harris carries the football 26 times and rushed for 105 yards and hauled in four passes for 28 more yards. It was Harris’ second 100-yard rushing game of his rookie season and brings his season rushing total to 541 yards.
