Steelers RB James Conner named Ed Block Courage Award recipient

As if there was any doubt.

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced their 2019 winner of the Ed Block Courage Award as voted on by teammates and it is running back James Conner.

Since 1984, the Ed Block Courage Award annually honors one player from every NFL team who exemplifies commitment to the principles of sportsmanship and courage. Recipients are selected by a vote of their teammates to recognize both on- and off-the-field extra efforts along with their ability to overcome great adversity, whether it be personal or professional. The award is named in honor of Ed Block, the long-time head athletic trainer of the Baltimore Colts.

Conner’s road to the NFL wasn’t easy and even since arriving at the Steelers in 2016 he has had to overcome adversity. But when you understand the spirit of the award and what is expected of a recipient, it is easy to see why Conner’s teammates voted for him.
