Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said he will make his first appearance of the season Saturday at Heinz Field when the Steelers play the Indianapolis Colts in their third preseason game.
It promises to be a brief one, likely no more than two series for him with the first-team offense.
"It's going to depend on how well we play, how long we play," said Roethlisberger, who is in his 14th NFL season. "Hopefully if we go down the field and score ... "
Roethlisberger, who played briefly last summer in just the third preseason game, is looking for his offense Saturday "just to click, to move the ball, pick up first downs _ obviously getting in the end zone is always a big deal, but we want to move the ball."
Neither Roethlisberger nor his backup, Landry Jones, has played in the first two preseason games. Rookie quarterbacks Josh Dobbs and Bart Houston have taken all the snaps.
Typically, Roethlisberger and many other starters do not play in the fourth preseason game, so this should be his only appearance before the regular season.
