Steelers QB Mason Rudolph staying patient in year 2

There are going to be several key position battles to watch at Pittsburgh Steelers training camp this year. One of the most heated and interesting is going to be between Mason Rudolph and Josh Dobbs for the backup quarterback position.

Rudolph spoke to the media after organized team activities practice and noted he is getting more first-team reps during this OTA as opposed to his rookie season. This makes sense with Landry Jones no longer in the mix.

In his comments, Rudolph noted he’s in no rush to get meaningful snaps. Good thing considering Ben Roethlisberger doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. But I’m confident Rudolph’s ability to throw the football is going to give him an edge over Dobbs by the time training camp is over.

Pittsburgh drafted Rudolph in the third round of the 2018 NFL draft. He and wide receiver James Washington both played their college football together at Oklahoma State.
