Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger undergoes elbow surgery on Monday

ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter is reporting Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had surgery on his injured elbow on Monday. According to Schefter, the team is planning on a full return by Roethlisberger in 2020.

Roethlisberger injured his elbow during the Steelers second game of the season against the Seattle Seahawks. He’s been replaced in the starting lineup by Mason Rudolph.

According to Schefter, Roethlisberger had his surgery in Los Angeles and the procedure was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache.

The Steelers released the following statement about Roethlisberger’s surgery and recovery.

Once Ben returns to Pittsburgh, he immediately will begin working with the Steelers’ medical staff on his rehabilitation, and he is expected to make a full recovery and return to the field for the 2020 NFL season.
