Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger shoulders the blame for loss: ‘I wasn’t good enough’

The Pittsburgh Steelers put out a miserable performance on Sunday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pittsburgh lose 33-3 to fall to 0-1 and now they must rally to get on the winning track this season against the Seattle Seahawks.

After the game, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger spoke to the media and he pulled no punches in laying the blame at his own feet for his team’s performance. More than once during his press conference he noted it was him who didn’t play well enough and he knows he must do better.

This is very noble of Roethlisberger but it’s not exactly true. Roethlisberger threw for 276 yards on Sunday night on 27-for-47 passing. Not his best boxscore by any stretch but he made due with what he had.

Once again the Steelers completely abandoned the run game as soon as the Patriots got any sort of lead and multiple drops — mainly by wide receiver Donte Moncrief — snuffed out multiple opportunities.

If there is any player on this team who did their part on Sunday night it was Roethlisberger. We expect a huge performance out of him next week to help get the taste of this loss out of his mouth.
