Steelers president Art Rooney II opposed to expanding instant replay

This weekend the NFL will hold its owners meeting when all 32 league owners will get together to talk about potential rule changes. And perhaps the biggest topic on the agenda will be potential rule changes to the current instant replay system. Pittsburgh Steelers team president Art Rooney II will of course be in attendance and he will once again oppose the notion of expanding the scope of instant replay.

Rooney II makes an excellent point. Human error is part of the game and giving the instant replay process more power and a larger net in terms of plays is still putting the decision making in the hands of humans.

Instant replay has never been kind to the Steelers. Head coach Mike Tomlin is among the worst coaches in the league when it comes to winning challenges. For the Steelers and the entire league really it is about minimizing the human error. But even if they do not, simply being consistent with calls would be a step in the right direction.
